Agricultural Atlas (print)
A3 printed atlas (120 pages) collecting the most important maps, associated tables and derived charts extracted from the Digital Agricultural Atlas of the Union of Myanmar.

The Atlas contains general datasets from international data providers and agricultural-related datasets generated from 2001-2002 statistics at State/Division and District level. Main maps are displayed at 1:6 000 000 scale while other ancillary maps are displayed around 1:12 000 000 scale.

The atlas aims to act as reference and guide to those wishing to understand more clearly the opportunities and challenges facing the agricultural sector in Myanmar.

Next is a selection of pages from the atlas. Click on the picture to open the full size (pdf, A3) file.

Political/administrative Myanmar atlas: Political/administrative map
Map extracted from the section GENERAL of the Agricultural Atlas of the Union of Myanmar. This map portrays Myanmar basic geographical information such as political and administrative boundaries, populated places, etc. State/Division, District and Township codes and names constitute the basis for all the tabular information available from the agricultural survey. Boundaries were compiled by Suntac Technologies, Inc from national topographic map series.
Population density Myanmar atlas: Population density map
Map extracted from the section GENERAL of the Agricultural Atlas of the Union of Myanmar. This map portrays the population density (persons/sqkm) aggregated at Township administrative level. Townships located in Mandalay, Tanintharyi and Shan North had no population data available; instead, the total population was available by District. Therefore, gaps were filled by using District averages.
Rainfall (annual average) Myanmar atlas: Rainfall table Myanmar atlas: Rainfall map
Map extracted from the section CLIMATE of the Agricultural Atlas of the Union of Myanmar. Data source is the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) database, which collects records for a variable range of years depending on the parameter considered. Information is available as average, by station and per month.
Net sown area (ha) Myanmar atlas: Net sown area map
Map extracted from the section LAND USE of the Agricultural Atlas of the Union of Myanmar. This map portrays land utilization, particularly areas designated to crop production, as aggregated values at District level according to 2001-2002 survey.
Irrigated areas (ha) Myanmar atlas: Irrigated areas map
Map extracted from the section IRRIGATION AND WATER RESOURCES of the Agricultural Atlas of the Union of Myanmar. Irrigated areas can be managed by the Irrigation Department (ID), the Water Resources Utilization Department (WRUD) or private operators. The total area is considered as the sum of the net sown irrigated areas.
Rice crop Myanmar atlas: Rice crop table Myanmar atlas: Rice crop map
Map and table extracted from the section CROPS/Cereals of the atlas. The crop maps portray annual data for sown and harvested areas (ha), yield (kg/ha) and production (t). The main map displays data for the sown area while one or two smaller maps portrays yield and production data. Data can be available for three seasons (summer, monsoon and winter) and as total value.

Total Cattle (no.) Myanmar atlas: Total cattle map
Map extracted from the section LIVESTOCK AND AQUACULTURE of the Agricultural Atlas of the Union of Myanmar. Most cattle play a multi purpose role: -principal source of draft power for cultivation, -providers of organic fertilizer and -mean of transport in rural areas. Cattle also represent the most important financial assets possessed by most farming families.
Aquaculture (ha) Myanmar atlas: Aquaculture map
Map extracted from the section LIVESTOCK AND AQUACULTURE of the Agricultural Atlas of the Union of Myanmar. Fisheries data are based on fisheries ponds and prawn ponds only. Data are not available for river and marine fisheries. The map portrays the total area (ha) of fish and prown ponds according to the 2001-2002 survey.
Fertilizers/pesticides Myanmar atlas: Fertilizers/pesticides map
Maps extracted from the section INPUT of the Agricultural Atlas of the Union of Myanmar. One of the main factors limiting crop production is pest infestation. Necessary countermeasures include systematic use of both organic and chemical protections, though proper care is exercised in usage and application of pesticides to minimize hazards and environment pollution. The map portrays fertilizers and pesticides input, agregated by District, according to the 2001-2002 survey.
