Workshop on Harmonization of Forest and Land Cover Classifications using LCCS for Central Asia Region, November 2007

Introduction
This harmonization workshop is organized by FAO-Environment and Natural Resources Unit (NRCE) as activity of the Global Land Cover Network project, with the technical support of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

  19. Reasons for wanting to attend the GLCN workshop [i.e."I have worked briefly using the technique during my postgraduate studies and would like to learn more about it"].

Briefly describe your suitability to attend the workshop and the means available to distribute what you have learned to other individuals in your home country [i.e. "I am a masters student at the moment, this workshop will further expand my knowledge on using LCCS for classification of land cover. In addition to broadening my mind on different classification techniques and the idea of harmonization"].
  21. Please indicate if you would require support for your travel and accommodation costs [i.e. "In the case of being accepted to participate in this important workshop i would kindly require support for travel and accomodation. If a grant is possible I would very much appreciate it"].
  22. An important aspect of GLCN activities is standardization and harmonization of mapping activities and data. The standardization and compatability of data sets if fundamental in allowing the there use by a broard stakeholder group and the development of national, regional and global data sets. Please indicate which legends you are currently using to carry out your mapping activities. Please send descriptions of the different classes to GLCN (glcn@fao.org). Class descriptions will be translated into the Land Cover Classification System and sent back to you for your reviews.
